Phổ Ái: Một Con Đường, Muôn Tấm Lòng | One Path, A Thousand Hearts

Trong Kinh Báo Ân (Kṣitigarbha Sūtra), đức Phật từng tha thiết dạy: “Tâm báo ân là nền móng để thành tựu Phật đạo.” Câu Kinh ấy như đôi cánh nâng đỡ toàn bộ đạo hạnh người con Phật, khơi dậy trong mỗi chúng ta niềm kính trọng sâu xa đối với những người đi trước và thức tỉnh bổn phận làm sao để xứng đáng với những ân tình đã thọ nhận.

Chính trên nền tảng ấy, tổ chức Gia Đình Phật Tử Việt Nam suốt gần một thế kỷ hình thành và phát triển không những là môi trường giáo dưỡng tâm linh và lý tưởng cho thanh thiếu niên Phật tử, mà còn là một cộng đồng sống với nhau bằng tình thương, nghĩa tình, và sự tri ân vô tận.

Ngày Lễ truyền thống Hiệp Kỵ không đơn thuần là một nghi lễ tưởng niệm. Đó là cuộc trở về – trở về với nguồn cội, trở về với những tấm lòng đã từng thắp sáng lý tưởng Lam giữa thời cuộc thăng trầm. Đó là giây phút toàn thể Lam viên từ khắp nơi hội tụ tâm thức để cùng thắp một nén tâm hương, tưởng niệm Chư vị Ân Sư, Sáng lập viên, Cố vấn, Gia trưởng, Huynh trưởng và Đoàn sinh quá vãng. Đó là một hành động đầy sức sống – bởi khi tưởng niệm không phải để khóc than, mà để nhớ ơn, học theo và tiếp nối.

Gần một thế kỷ đi qua, GĐPTVN đã đối diện với không biết bao nhiêu lần mất-còn – mất vì chiến tranh, chia cắt, tù đày, lưu vong; còn vì niềm tin, tình Lam và chí nguyện không lay chuyển. Chính trong những thời khắc khó khăn vô cùng, bài học lớn nhất không đến từ những thắng lợi vang dội, mà từ sự đùm bọc, từ một nắm cơm chia đôi, một cái nón che chung đầu, một bài kinh tụng giữa đêm thâu, một ánh mắt nhắc nhở “chúng ta luôn là một”.

Hiệp Kỵ là minh chứng cho tinh thần ấy: biết thương yêu nhau như huynh đệ một nhà, biết gìn giữ nhau như một mạng mạch sống còn, biết kính nhớ những người đi trước để sống xứng đáng với con đường mình đang đi hiện tại. Mỗi năm, ngày Hiệp Kỵ vừa là một nghi lễ, vừa là lời mời gọi chúng ta sống sâu sắc hơn, biết ơn hơn, và nhất tâm hơn trong sứ mệnh phục vụ Đạo Pháp, Dân Tộc và Tổ Chức GĐPTVN.

Bởi vì Đạo Pháp là lý tưởng bất biến – Dân Tộc là đất mẹ không bao giờ cạn tình – và Tổ Chức GĐPT là chiếc thuyền đã chuyên chở biết bao thế hệ qua dòng sông vô thường. Nếu không có những tâm hồn âm thầm giữ gìn ngọn đèn ấy, làm sao có được ngọn lửa nối tiếp ngày hôm nay?

Hiệp Kỵ – vì thế –là tưởng niệm người đã khuất, cùng lúc đánh thức người còn sống. Để mỗi Huynh trưởng chúng ta, mỗi Đoàn sinh biết rằng mình đang tiếp tục một con đường không khởi đầu từ mình, nhưng sẽ kết thúc bằng chính những gì ta gieo hôm nay cho thế hệ đàn em ngày mai.

One Path, A Thousand Hearts

In the Sūtra of Gratitude (Kṣitigarbha Sūtra), the Buddha compassionately teaches: “The mind of gratitude is the very foundation for the realization of Buddhahood.”
This sacred verse serves as a pair of wings lifting the entire moral life of a child of the Buddha—awakening within us a profound reverence for those who have come before, and reminding us of our sacred responsibility: to live in a way worthy of the countless blessings we have received.

Grounded in that spirit, the Gia Đình Phật Tử Việt Nam (Vietnamese Buddhist Youth Association) has, for nearly a century, not only provided a spiritual and ethical environment for young Buddhists, but has also formed a community bound together by compassion, brotherhood, and boundless gratitude.

The Hiệp Kỵ Memorial Day is not merely a ritual of remembrance. It is a return—a return to our roots, a return to the hearts that once kindled the radiant Lam ideal amidst the storms of history. It is a sacred moment when Lam members from all directions gather in mindfulness, offering incense with sincere devotion to honor the late Venerable Mentors, Founders, Advisors, Chapter Leaders, Lay Dharma Teachers, and all departed members. It is a gesture filled with vitality—for to remember is not to mourn in despair, but to express gratitude, to learn, and to carry forth.

Through nearly a hundred years, GĐPTVN has endured countless trials of survival and loss—loss through war, separation, imprisonment, and exile; survival through unwavering faith, Lam spirit, and an indomitable vow. In the most difficult times, the greatest lessons have not arisen from resounding victories, but from solidarity—a shared meal, a shared hat under the rain, a chanted sutra in the silence of midnight, a look that softly says: we are still one.

Hiệp Kỵ is a testament to that spirit: loving one another as siblings in the Dharma, protecting one another as if safeguarding the very pulse of life, and honoring the departed by living a life worthy of the path they once walked. Each year, the Hiệp Kỵ observance is both a sacred rite and a gentle call—for us to live more deeply, to remember more gratefully, and to commit more fully to the mission of serving the Dharma, the Nation, and the GĐPTVN.

For the Dharma is our immutable ideal; the Nation is our inexhaustible motherland; and the GĐPT is the vessel that has carried countless generations across the river of impermanence. Without those quiet souls who have guarded its sacred light, how could we have inherited the flame that warms us today?

Thus, Hiệp Kỵ is not only remembrance of the departed—it is a profound awakening for the living. So that each of us, as Dharma Teachers and Youth Leaders, may recognize that we are continuing a path that did not begin with us, but will be fulfilled by what we plant today for the generations of tomorrow.
